Ali'a Matavao, a Brigham Young-bound senior at Liberty High in Nevada, won the girls elite shot put with a mark of 43-1.50 (13.14m) at the 83rd Chandler Rotary Invitational at Chandler High's Austin Field in Arizona. Matavao, the two-time Gatorade Girls Basketball State Player of the Year in Nevada, also cleared 4-9 (1.45m) in the elite high jump to tie for 12th place overall. She also secured 12th place in the elite long jump with a leap of 16-8 (5.08m).
